In an interview with Stella Magazine, Gaultier explained that he wanted to create a bespoke item for his feline friend but it didn’t work out: “Do you know that cats can't wear corsets? They can't stand! Not at all - they just fall over. I know because I tried!”

The designer also explained that he owes a lot of his success to using real women in his catwalk shows as other women can relate to them.
