Ebay has announced its plans to launch a fashion-specific section on its website within the next two months, focussing on sellers offering high-volume branded fashion.
The new channel will be launched at fashion.ebay.co.uk and follows an increase of 17 per cent year-on-year growth in the fourth quarter of 2009 of fixed-price sales, which now account for 56 per cent of the site’s total sales.
The new Ebay fashion channel will be more visual with photography and browsing utilised in place of their usual list-based display.
Concern has been expressed, however, by small-scale sellers who fear being pushed out by Ebay’s focus on forming partnerships with large-scale retailers.
