John Lewis has given Commercial Director Andrea O’Donnell responsibility for retail development and implementation in addition to her current duties for multichannel and online selling, bringing together ‘bricks and clicks’ growth under one director.
The shift in the responsibilities for the business recognises changing consumer shopping habits, taking into account the importance of footfall into stores and online sales.
O'Donnell will report directly to the Managing Director at John Lewis, Andy Street. She will take up the position on 28 March 2010. Her new position encompasses the retail development elements of Retail Director Gareth Thomas’ role, who will take early retirement this month.
Andy Street spoke of the move: "John Lewis has made no secret of the fact it intends to build on its multichannel strengths. By putting accountability for 'bricks and clicks' in one area, our Board now has the best possible structure to deliver the division's ambitious plans."
